Web browsers constantly update and change to provide faster, more secure, responsive user experiences. eVisit provides patients and providers the same experience without users downloading and using browsers they may not be familiar or comfortable with.
As of May 2022, eVisit supports the current versions only of the following browsers within the operating systems mentioned (make sure you update your browser regularly):
Hardware |
Browser Name |
Desktop Laptop
|
Chrome Windows and MacOS |
Firefox Windows and MacOS |
|
Safari |
|
Edge Windows |
|
Mobile |
Safari* iOS and iPadOS |
Chrome Android, iOS, and iPadOS |
*You may find our App more responsive vs using the Safari mobile web browser.
If your provider/organization permits the use of the app, download it here.
What happens if I try to use an unsupported browser?
When a user attempts to use eVisit with an unsupported browser, the user's progress is actively blocked and a message informing them that eVisit does not support their browser displays (see below). Even if there’s a chance their browser may work, users cannot proceed. Links to current versions of supported browsers as well as a Copy invite link button and paste it into the address bar are provided.
If a provider or patient tries to access eVisit through an unsupported browser on their mobile device, they see one of these messages depending on their device and the practice's preference. They can either download the app or click the Copy invite link button and paste it into the address bar.

Browser Support Policy
This section describes our process when deciding whether to support a new browser. We constantly revisit our list of supported browsers regularly, and test compatibility with the eVisit platform.
-
We achieve confidence through judicious browser testing. Supporting a browser is a promise we make to customers and patients that our software will work on that browser. If we don’t support your preferred browser, it’s because it won’t provide you the best experience you deserve with eVisit. This doesn’t mean your preferred browser won’t be a supported browser in the future, but as of now, there are better options in regard to eVisit’s functionality.
-
Browser support is binary; no shades of gray. There will always be browsers that happen to “work” with eVisit’s technology, but which have yet to be tested. We do not declare these browsers as supported. We either certify that a browser works with eVisit, or we don’t.
-
We strive to support 100% of patients. We support all patients who can use a smartphone, regardless of their level of technical expertise. To achieve this, we support the default installed browsers on all modern, mass-marketed devices, and the set of browsers that currently have greater than 3% USA market share according to statcounter.
-
We support current versions only. Every browser on our supported browser list is “evergreen”, which means the vendor forces updates to users automatically.
